Three
times more frequent in females, thyroid cancer is
the most common endocrine gland malignancy and over
the last two decades its prevalence has been increasing
more rapidly than any other malignancy. When modern
detection techniques and treatment methods are applied,
this cancer can be cured in more than 85% of affected
patients. Mount Sinai Hospital has been an acknowledged
pioneer in applying thyroid ultrasound and fine needle
aspiration biopsy to achieve its earliest detection.
The establishment of a Centre for Head and Neck Diseases
will maintain Mount Sinai Hospital’s ongoing
leadership in the medical and surgical treatment of
thyroid cancer both in our community and worldwide.
In order to defray some of the operational costs of
patient care and research associated with this center,
the fifth annual gala will take place on April 28th,
2010 at La Primavera Hospitality and Convention Centre.
The Honourees for this fifth annual event will be
Julian and Liviana Fantino. Your participation in this
event will help ensure that this centre of excellence
will remain at the frontier of knowledge and apply
the latest advances in the diagnosis and treatment
for patients with thyroid cancer.
